Mockingbird School 2024 - 2025 upgrades

Each year the PTA and SBDM work to make material improvements to the school. Some are small investments; others are quite large. Below you'll find information about some of the major initiatives PTA and SBDM have taken on this school year. If you'd like to help Mockingbird best serve its current and future students, consider participating in PTA or SBDM.

1. New sound equipment for the auditorium

We have some electrifying news that will make you want to turn up the volume!

Thanks to MES PTA funds raised by our wonderful parents, guardians, and sponsors during last year’s auction, our school auditorium is getting a brand-new sound system!

Work began the second week of January and was recently completed. The sound system makeover includes:

  • All new electrical and sound wiring
  • State-of-the-art speakers
  • iPads to remotely control the sound board
  • Wireless microphones and wired mini microphones over the stage
  • Plus all the bells and whistles to make sure every note, word, and sound is crystal clear

Whether your child is performing in the school play/musical, giving a speech, or just enjoying a concert, you'll feel like you're at a professional venue (minus the overpriced tickets, ticketing fees and snacks).
In addition, as part of this project, the existing overhead projector is finally fixed! So, get ready to be blown away by the new sound system.

2. Library makeover

Attention, bookworms and page-turners! We have some exciting news.

Thanks to PTA funds raised by our wonderful parents, guardians, and sponsors during last year’s auction, the MES school library is getting a makeover. We're thrilled to announce that the updated library will have:

  • New multi-function, soft-seating furniture great for general education, STEM classes, and school meetings
  • A new circulation desk
  • Quiet reading nooks
  • A soothing color palette

Whether you're studying, reading, or just hanging out, these new additions will provide the perfect spot for all our MES community’s needs. The library will remain open during the renovations—just be prepared for some creative rearranging of furniture and books.

Stay tuned for updates. Target completion is sometime after the 2025 Spring Break. You can see a quick overview of the coming changes in the video below.
