Highlights
- A huge thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the auction party a success this past weekend!
- The school-wide field day is on Friday, May 16.
- The last community garden day of the year is Saturday, May 17.
- Kinder through 4th-grade picnics are on Thursday, May 22 (during lunch/recess); the 5th-grade awards ceremony and picnic will be on Friday, May 23 (the last day of school).
- Please take two minutes to fill out the MES parent satisfaction survey, if you haven't already.
- DISD's Summer Cool Camp registration is open. You can get more information or sign up here.
- You can buy school supplies for next year now. Get it done early!

Volunteer/Donate
- Cafeteria volunteers are needed for the spring semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 - 11:30, 11:30 - 12:30, and 12:30 - 1:30.
- Support the Peace Pantry, a donation-based service run by the Mockingbird PTA that provides support to the families in our school facing food insecurity.
- Remember, if you'd like to volunteer, you have to register or renew your VOLY account with DISD each year.
Reminders
- To report absences, email your homeroom teacher and mockingbirdattendance@dallasisd.org. Include: 1) student's name, ID number, and grade; 2) date and reason for the absence; 3) parent or guardian's signature.
- Click here to give a shout out to a teacher or staff member for a job well done please. They will be recognized and celebrated during the staff huddle and in the staff newsletter.
- Free dental clinics are available across Dallas. Check out this resource for locations and qualifying criteria.
- You can get information about measles and MMR from Children's Health Dallas, and find information about vaccine clinics in the area here. Also note, the Parkland Mobile Vaccine Unit is onsite at the DISD Margaret and Gilbert Herrera International Welcome Center every Wednesday from 9am - 2pm through May 7, 2025. The welcome center is located at 9400 N. Central Expressway Dallas, TX 75231 (see map).
- You can also get information from Children's Health Dallas about healthy eating, including what's in red dye no. 3, the impact of ultra-processed foods on health, a guide for creating balanced meals, and habits that can contribute to unhealthy weight in kids.
- If you are VOLY approved, you may visit your student during their lunch time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
