Highlights: week of February 17
- Third, fourth, and fifth graders are taking practice STAAR exams Tuesday through Thursday this week. The DISD assessment calendar contains all spring testing dates.
- Mark your calendars for spring movie night, Friday, February 28, 6:00 - 9:00pm. You can buy presale concession tickets here.
- Mockingbird's 2025 Auction is April 25, 2025 at Brake and Clutch Warehouse. You can buy tickets and sponsorships. Or get more information including other ways you can get involved.
- Spring movie night will be February 28 from 6 - 9pm.
- PTA and SBDM have been hard at work on school upgrades! Check out details.
- Yearbooks are on sale. Get yours now if you haven't already.
- The fifth-grade class gets extra space in the yearbook, so fifth-grade parents are encouraged to submit additional photos and yearbook dedications. Photos can be submitted to messtarsyearbook@gmail.com and dedications can be submitted using this form.
- The Dad's Club corn hole tournament has been rescheduled to March 22.
Volunteer/Donate
- Volunteer to help with the spring movie night on Friday, February 28, from 6:00 - 9:00pm. Both adults and kids can volunteer.
- Volunteers are needed to talk at career day on March 7. You can sign up here if you're interested.
- Cafeteria volunteers are needed for the spring semester on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10:30 - 11:30, 11:30 - 12:30, and 12:30 - 1:30.
- Support the Peace Pantry, a donation-based service run by the Mockingbird PTA that provides support to the families in our school facing food insecurity.
- Remember, if you'd like to volunteer, you have to register or renew your VOLY account with DISD each year.
Reminders
- To report absences, email your homeroom teacher and mockingbirdattendance@dallasisd.org. Include: 1) student's name, ID number, and grade; 2) date and reason for the absence; 3) parent or guardian's signature.
- Click here to give a shout out to a teacher or staff member for a job well done please. They will be recognized and celebrated during the staff huddle and in the staff newsletter.
- Free dental clinics are available across Dallas. Check out this resource for locations and qualifying criteria.
- If you are VOLY approved, you may visit your student during their lunch time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
